Important Notes on Making Reservations

2012 Requires prepaid reservations. If you are a large group wanting to sit together, each paying party must make a reservation. In the Special Requests field, please tell us the party name you would like to sit with and we will ensure you will all be sitting together. (iPads have been having difficulty, if you do, try a diffferent computer)

Challenges will begin at 6:30pm at Crippen's Country Inn & Restaurant in Blowing Rock. 

 Preliminaries & Quarterfinals $49.00*, Semi-finals $59.00*, Seating is limited so secure your reservations well in advance.

Grand Finale $59.00*: Blue Ridge Wine & Food Festival, Tuesday April 11, 2012 at 6:30pm

  

 The secret ingredient will not be revealed until the day of each event, that way the guests will not be able to know what their favorite chef is cooking. We want each restaurant's guests to come and support their chefs, but we don't want it to be a popularity contest. Chefs are limited to only the ingredients provided.

"YOU BE THE JUDGE" - Dining guests will be given a scoring sheet (or download the app) with the same guidelines a food critic goes by.  Jimmy Crippen will give everybody a crash course on how to be a food critic. The dining public will carry a 70% weight in determinting the winner of each battle. As a matter of fact, the scoring sheet was created by John Batchelor, the Greensboro News and Record's Food critic of more than 30 years.  Batchelor is the founding Judge of the Fire On The Rock Chef's Challenge.

"NEW THIS YEAR" - A panel of professional judges will be added to each battle. This panel will carry a 30% weight in the determination of the winning chef team.

"Blind Dinner" - Guests & Judges will not know whose dish is whose when they are tasting them.  The challenge bracket has been created based on previous years rankings and will be judged equally, regardless of their home restaurant's style. The winner of each battle moves forward in the bracket until the final battle where each chef team will be competing for a $2500 grand prize.
